Pomp and Circumstance

The graduates walked all the way around the audience, so I got a good shot of him as he came by me. SO serious!

Max was honored to give the Opening Address
"Good afternoon parents, teachers, families, friends and fellow graduates.
Welcome to the 2007 Abbey Montessori Graduation Rites.
And now, may I present to you the graduates."

Each graduate spoke their full name and told what they wanted to be when they grew up
"My name is Maxwell David Recker. I want to be an astronaut when I grow up so I can float in space."

The 2007 Graduating Class of Abbey Montessori Preschool

A poem written by one of the graduates' father

Can you all keep a secret?
Come closer, I have one to share,
A secret about some children for which we all care
Come even closer and I will tell you some more,
About the children we all adore

Today is special, I am sure you have been told
You can see it in their smiles, a sight to behold

On this day I would like to share a story
About the children of Abbey Montessori

Let me start from the beginning, that is a good place to start
Fresh are the memories about the children close to our hearts.

One by one I will share with you their names
Remember that this story is about fun and games

Parker and Kobe were the first to arrive,
Once in there diapers, but now are a big five

Liam and Aiden are the twins that are friends to all
Two boys that will be with you for the long haul call

Do you want to hear some more
About the children we adore?

They come each day to learn something new
Practice each job so they can show it to you

They have the trinomial, binomial and the brown stairs
The gold beads, puzzle maps and wood squares

One thing can be said for what they have learned
They are smarter and better people as far as I am concerned

Back to the kids and not a moment too soon
I am sure our they already see me as a loon

Philip, Porter and Max are off to new places
It is true we will miss their bright sunny faces

Katie, Daniella, Juliana and Rachel will explore new days
No doubt breaking many a hearts along the way

What else is there to say on this Graduation Day
Except that maybe our kids are finally ready to play

Wait one minute more I am almost done
I promise you that so we can have some fun

Let’s not forget the rest of the boys
Eager to get home to play with their toys

Kunal and Raphael have been a real treat
Both boys so kind and sweet

Last, but not least there are two more
Nicholas and Jahan are ready to soar

You all have heard what I have to share
All about the children for which we care

Their futures are bright and we know they will shine
For it is Ms Luchi and Ms Liza that kept them in line

And for us parents I have one thing to say
Didn’t the founders of Google learn the Montessori way?

Class of 2007 we are so proud of you today
Your mountain is waiting.
So…get on your way!
